ΕΠΑΝΑΠΑΤΡΙΣΜΟΣ ΤΩΝ ΜΑΡΜΑΡΩΝ ΤΟΥ ΠΑΡΘΕΝΩΝΑ

Η έναρξη της λειτουργίας του Νέου Μουσείου της Ακρόπολης επαναφέρει με τρόπο επιτακτικό στην επικαιρότητα το θέμα της επιστροφής των γλυπτών του Παρθενώνα. Ο τολμηρός σχεδιασμός και η παρουσίαση των λευκών αντιγράφων δίπλα στις αυθεντικές λίθους παρουσιάζουν περίτρανα την κατακρεούργηση του διακόσμου του μνημείου.
Με τη δημιουργία του Νέου Μουσείου έχουμε ένα εξαιρετικό χώρο για την προστασία και την ανάδειξη των θησαυρών της Ακρόπολης αλλά καταρρίπτεται και το βασικό επιχείρημα των Βρετανών για την μη ύπαρξη κατάλληλου μουσείου υποδοχής των γλυπτών.
Το τελευταίο χρονικό διάστημα επίσης έγινε ένα μπαράζ δημοσιευμάτων στον ξένο τύπο: “Telegraph”, “Newsweek”,”Vanity Fair”, “The Sunday Telegraph” στο θέμα της επιστροφής των μαρμάρων και η γενική διεθνής κατακραυγή έχει προκαλέσει εκνευρισμό στο Βρετανικό Μουσείο το οποίο αναζητά νέους τρόπους προσέγγισης του θέματς και που οδήγησε σε πρόταση στελέχους να μας επιστραφούν τα γλυπτά για τρεις μήνες με τον όρο πως θα αναγνωρίσουμε την κυριότητα του στα έργα του Φειδία. Ευτυχώς η ελληνική απάντηση ήταν αρνητική.

The Trustees of the British Museum warmly welcome the opening of the New Acropolis Museum which will allow the Parthenon sculptures that are in Athens to be appreciated against the backdrop of ancient Greek and Athenian history. The new museum, however, does not alter the Trustees’ view that the sculptures are part of everyone’s shared heritage and transcend cultural boundaries. The Trustees remain convinced that the current division allows different and complementary stories to be told about the surviving sculptures, highlighting their significance for world culture and affirming the universal legacy of Ancient Greece
